New Website Direction: A Simple, Work-From-Home Lifestyle
When I first envisioned Northwoods Oasis, I wanted to highlight this beautiful area that Randy and I now call home. After moving from a big city to the small town of Birchwood, Wisconsin, we were in awe.
The lakes, the resorts, the endless trails, and—most of all—the friendly, hardworking people made this place feel special. I wanted to share every bit of it with you!
I threw myself into what I thought lake life should be—chasing outdoor adventures, tackling endless home projects, and hosting like I was running a resort.
But here’s what actually happened: I burned myself out trying to create a picture-perfect lifestyle. The reality? The most peaceful moments came when I stopped trying so hard.
My breakthrough came when I realized that life doesn’t have to be complicated to be amazing. Instead of filling my days with endless to-do lists and “should-dos,” I started paying attention to what actually made me happy.
It wasn’t a Pinterest-perfect home or a packed social calendar—it was the quiet moments. Sipping coffee in my home office with a view of the trees, stepping away from my desk to watch birds at the feeder, or knowing that at the end of the workday, I could unwind without a mile-long list of chores.
The magic wasn’t in doing more—it was in doing less, more intentionally.
I started simplifying everything: my routines, my home, my workdays. I set up my home office to be a space that felt calm and energizing, not cluttered and stressful. I stopped overcommitting and started designing my days to flow naturally between work and real life.
Suddenly, I had more time to enjoy my mornings, more energy to focus on meaningful work, and more peace in my daily routines.
That’s what Northwoods Oasis is about now: creating a work-from-home lifestyle that’s simple, balanced, and fulfilling.
It’s about designing a home that supports your workday without overwhelming maintenance. It’s about finding smart ways to streamline tasks so you can enjoy life beyond your inbox. It’s about making remote work feel like a natural extension of your life, not something that takes over it.
I’m not about rigid routines or chasing productivity hacks just for the sake of it. I’m about practical, low-maintenance ways to free up time and energy for what truly matters—whether that’s a peaceful morning, a midday walk, or even just closing the laptop at a reasonable hour.
So if you’re looking for ways to create a more peaceful, intentional home and workday—whether you live by a lake or just dream of that calm lake lifestyle—you’re in the right place.
Welcome to the new Northwoods Oasis, where work-from-home life meets intentional simplicity.
Randy and I would love to be your friendly neighbors, sharing ideas, inspiration, and a little slice of lake life from our cozy home to yours.
