New Website Direction: A Calm & Cozy Lifestyle

When Randy and I first created Northwoods Oasis, our goal was to highlight this gorgeous area we now call home. After moving from a big city to the small town of Birchwood, Wisconsin, we were in awe.

The lakes, the resorts, the endless trails and – most of all – the friendly, hardworking people made this place feel like a hidden gem. We wanted to share every bit of it with you!

But here’s the thing: we quickly realized there’s just too much to cover. Birchwood and its surrounding area have more to offer than we could ever fit into one website. And trying to cover it all started to feel like a chore—completely NOT the relaxed, calming mindset we’d come here to enjoy.

So we’re pivoting. Just like when we moved here, we’re taking a new direction.

Instead of trying to be a tour guide for every nook and cranny around here, we thought about what really mattered most to us. And what we truly wanted to share with you was something deeper: the mindset we’ve enjoyed since moving here.

It’s the way this peaceful, small-town lake community has helped us to slow down and appreciate the little things. We wanted our website to share that with you, too.

In 2020, with everything going on—the pandemic, the riots, the politics, the culture wars—it felt like the world had gone absolutely crazy. I remember feeling overwhelmed, afraid, and lost, wondering if things would ever feel normal again.

It was then that I realized, more than ever, the importance of home. Our homes are our sanctuaries, the one place where we can find a sense of security, comfort, and renewal.

For me, home isn’t about Pinterest-perfect, polished Zen rooms that feel more like a magazine spread than a place to live. I mean, who lives like that, anyway?

I’m a practical, small-town Midwest gal who loves a good cup of coffee (or glass of wine!), a cozy chat with a neighbor and a home that’s lived-in and loved.

Home is about creating a space that’s warm and welcoming. A place that feels like a big, cozy hug to everyone that walks through the door.

The goal of Northwoods Oasis is to do just that—help turn our homes into a sanctuary of calm. A place where we, our families, and our guests can drop the chaos in the driveway and find cozy peace inside.

So, if you’re looking for tips on making your home feel like a true oasis—whether that’s through small DIY projects, cozy décor ideas, or simple routines that bring a sense of calm—stick around.

We’d love to be your friendly neighbors, sharing stories, ideas, and a little inspiration from our calm & cozy home to yours.
